Translating reproductive science into understanding

Fertility care is deeply personal. It's also increasingly technical.

OTO Fertility is a Canadian health technology company bringing advanced biometric monitoring and AI-powered insights into reproductive care. Its platform combines a wearable biosensor, a companion app and proprietary technology designed to help patients and fertility specialists better understand physiological stress, recovery and reproductive readiness.

The technology draws on decades of research originally developed for space medicine and elite athletic performance. But explaining what the technology does is only part of the challenge. The website also needs to communicate why it matters to people navigating an emotionally demanding and often uncertain experience.

I was responsible for writing the website copy for OTO Fertility, translating its complex offering into accessible messaging for two very different audiences.

One technology. Two very different audiences.

For prospective patients, the questions are personal. How does this work? What will it tell me about my body? How does it fit into my existing fertility treatment? What happens next?

For fertility clinics, the questions are more technical and operational:
What does the technology measure? How are the insights generated? How does the system integrate into existing treatment protocols? What value does it offer patients and care teams?

The website needed to answer both sets of questions without losing the credibility of the underlying science. That meant finding ways to explain complicated concepts clearly, while recognizing that patients and medical professionals approach the same information with different priorities.

Building a website around clarity and confidence

The copy spans the complete website experience, from introducing OTO's technology and scientific background to explaining its products, patient journey and applications for fertility clinics. The goal was to make the information approachable without stripping away the technical detail that gives the offering its substance.

For patients, that meant connecting the technology to their experience of fertility care and making the next steps easier to understand. For clinic providers, it meant communicating the practical applications, technical capabilities and potential role of the platform within existing care. Throughout the project, the challenge was to balance innovation, scientific credibility and the human realities of reproductive health.

From complex technology to a public launch

OTO Fertility announced the launch of its AI-powered platform and wearable technology in December 2025, followed by the introduction of its Cira™ wrist-worn biosensor at CES 2026. The website provides a public-facing introduction to that technology, with distinct paths for people seeking fertility support and the clinics that may provide it.

For me, the project was an opportunity to apply one of the principles that guides my work across technical and credibility-sensitive industries: Making something easier to understand doesn't mean making it less sophisticated. It means understanding what people need to know, why it matters to them and how to communicate it responsibly.
