Canadian Hospital Specialties: Clarity at Scale

B2B Website Copywriting · Healthcare · Technical Communications

Client: Canadian Hospital Specialties (CHS)
Agency: Candybox Marketing
My role: Copywriter
Industry: Medical Device Manufacturing & Distribution

Making a complex healthcare business easier to navigate

Canadian Hospital Specialties (CHS) has been part of Canada's healthcare industry since 1967, manufacturing and distributing medical products used by hospitals, clinics and healthcare professionals across North America.

With an extensive portfolio of specialized medical devices, manufacturing capabilities and clinical support services, CHS had a tremendous amount of information to communicate to some very knowledgeable audiences.

It was the largest website copywriting project I'd taken on to date.

And while the volume of content was significant, the greater challenge was making sure every page had a clear purpose, communicated accurately and contributed to a consistent experience.

Complex products. Different audiences. One voice.

Writing for healthcare professionals requires a particular kind of precision.

A clinician looking for specialized respiratory equipment doesn't need the same information as a procurement manager evaluating supply chain reliability. A potential manufacturing partner has entirely different priorities again.

The website needed to communicate CHS's expertise across these audiences while maintaining a consistent brand voice.

That meant approaching the content with an understanding of what each audience needed to know, without sacrificing the technical specificity that gives medical communications their credibility.

The objective wasn't to make complicated products sound simple.

It was to make the information clear, useful and appropriate for the people relying on it.

Consistency across a large website

One of the challenges of extensive website projects is maintaining coherence across dozens of interconnected topics.

Product categories, service offerings and audience-specific pages each need their own purpose. But they also need to work together as part of a larger brand story.

My work focused on producing copy that balanced technical accuracy, readability and consistency across the website.

That involved making deliberate choices about terminology, messaging hierarchy and how to communicate CHS's capabilities without falling back on repetitive industry language.

The result: A happy client and very few revisions

For a project of this scale, one of the most satisfying outcomes was how smoothly the copy review process went.

The client was extremely pleased with the work, and the copy required remarkably few revisions.

That mattered to me.

On a large website, extensive rewriting can create delays and inconsistencies across interconnected pages. Getting the messaging right early helps everyone involved move forward with greater confidence.

The positive feedback reinforced something I've learned throughout my career: good copywriting isn't measured only by the quality of the final words.

It's also reflected in the decisions behind them, the understanding that informs them and how effectively the work moves through the production process.

A large website doesn't have to become a large revision exercise.
